IT Systems Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our team, who is responsible for managing and maintaining the core IT infrastructure that supports our operations. This includes ensuring system reliability, optimizing disaster recovery and backup processes, expanding automation capabilities, and enhancing infrastructure monitoring. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for mentoring junior team members to build a stronger team.
Critical Projects
- One of the key initiatives for this role will be refining our Veeam backup configuration to align with established RTO/RPOs. The candidate will analyze our existing backup systems, identify gaps or inefficiencies, and propose improvements to meet our backup and recovery goals. Once recommendations are approved, the candidate will play an active role in implementing these enhancements to ensure a robust and reliable backup and recovery strategy.
- Participate in a strategic project to evaluate options for cloud, colocation, and data center migration options as the organization transitions from its current facilities to more scalable solutions. The candidate will provide technical expertise to assess infrastructure needs, contribute to the selection process, and support the migration of IT services to the chosen platform. Experience with application migrations, including planning, testing, and execution, is highly preferred and will be a significant asset in ensuring a seamless transition.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the backup and recovery solution (Veeam/Zerto), ensuring robust disaster recovery and operational resilience.
- Contribute technical expertise and play a critical role in projects such as data center migrations, disaster recovery enhancements, and system modernization efforts.
- Maintain and enhance infrastructure monitoring tools to ensure complete visibility and proactive management of IT systems.
- Administer and troubleshoot Nutanix and VMware platforms.
- Administer and support Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs and drive operational improvements.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior team members, fostering their technical growth and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Participate in projects leveraging Microsoft Azure, such as Azure Arc and Azure Automation, to enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and projects, ensuring knowledge-sharing across the team.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex system issues, working collaboratively to resolve incidents.
Preferred Skills
- Strong mentoring and training abilities, with a focus on team development.
- Hands-on experience with VMware or Nutanix environments.
- Experience with Azure-based tools for automation and infrastructure management is preferred.
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment.
